The short answer to “Is Qatar Airways hiring cabin crew right now?” is no. There are currently no cabin crew vacancies or Assessment Days listed on the Qatar Airways careers site. The last advertised Assessment Day was removed on October 17, 2026. Here’s what we know and what it means if you’re planning to apply.
How Qatar Airways Recruits Cabin Crew
Qatar Airways no longer relies on walk-in Open Days for most of its recruitment. Instead, the airline advertises Assessment Days in specific cities on its careers site, and candidates apply online for the location they want to attend. Each listing has a closing date, usually around two weeks after it goes live. Shortlisted candidates are then invited by email to an Assessment Day in that city.
A few things make this different from airlines that recruit all year round:
- Each city usually gets one Assessment Day. If you can’t attend the date the airline sets, you will miss out on that round.
- Apply to one location only. Don’t submit applications for several Assessment Days at once.
- You don’t need to live in the country where the event is held. But if you apply for an Assessment Day abroad, you pay your own travel costs if you are invited.
- When there are no listings, there is no way in. Qatar Airways does not run an open, evergreen application or a register-interest option for cabin crew when recruitment is paused.
Worth knowing: Qatar Airways chooses its Assessment Day locations based on the nationalities and languages it needs at the time. If your country isn’t on the list in a particular round, that isn’t a judgement on you. It may well be next time.
Where Things Stand Right Now
2026 has been an unusual year for Qatar Airways recruitment.
When conflict involving Iran forced the airline to suspend much of its network in early 2026, it needed far fewer cabin crew than before. In July, Qatar Airways quietly paused cabin crew recruitment altogether. There were no Assessment Days listed, and no way to register interest. We covered the suspension here.
The pause didn’t last long. On August 14, 2026, Qatar Airways listed Assessment Days in eight cities: Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Jakarta, Paris, Tunis, Bogota, Dhaka and Seoul, with applications closing on August 27. Here’s our coverage of the reopening. That turned out to be just the start. Over the following weeks, Qatar Airways added Assessment Days in many more cities around the world, well beyond the original eight. Recruitment continued at that pace until the last advertised Assessment Day dropped off the careers site on October 17.
So why has it stopped again? Our read is that this is a pause, not a freeze. Qatar Airways has just run one of its busiest recruitment drives of the year, and it is likely working through the candidates from those Assessment Days, many of whom will still be completing medical checks and waiting for joining dates. Once that pipeline is clearer, the airline will know how many more crew it needs.
The bigger picture points towards more hiring, not less. Qatar Airways is expanding its network to more than 170 destinations for the 2026-27 winter season, adding more than 186 weekly flights from October 25, and it expects 19 new aircraft deliveries between September 2026 and the end of 2027. All of that needs cabin crew.

How to Apply and Stay Ready
Applications go through the official Qatar Airways careers site. You apply online for the Assessment Day location you want to attend, and the process then includes an online English test and, for some candidates, a video interview. You then move on to the Assessment Day itself, a final interview, a photo review, and medical checks.
If Qatar Airways isn’t hiring right now, don’t wait until it does before preparing your application. Use the time to make sure you are application ready:
- Get your CV ready now. Qatar Airways reviews applications digitally, so your CV needs to work before anyone meets you.
- Prepare for the English test. It eliminates more candidates than almost any other stage.
- Check your appearance against the standards. Tattoos, scars, and grooming are all assessed formally.
