EasyJet is one of the biggest cabin crew employers in Europe, and one of the most popular choices for UK candidates who want a permanent base close to home. Crew fly short-haul routes from bases across the UK and Europe and sleep in their own beds most nights, and last year the airline set out to recruit nearly 1,000 new cabin crew for the summer season alone.

The short answer to “Is EasyJet hiring cabin crew right now?” is: almost. Applications for London Gatwick open on Monday, October 26, 2026. Every other UK base is currently closed to new applicants, although EasyJet has started inviting candidates who registered their interest over the summer to join the talent pool at five bases. Here’s what we know and what it means if you’re planning to apply.
How EasyJet Recruits Cabin Crew
EasyJet doesn’t hold walk-in Open Days. Instead, it advertises vacancies for individual bases on its careers site, and you apply online for the specific base you want to work from. Shortlisted candidates complete online assessments and are then invited to an Assessment Day, held either virtually or in person.
A few things make EasyJet different from airlines that recruit in one central location:
- You apply for one base. You must live within 90 minutes of that base, or be willing to relocate before you join.
- A rejection locks you out for six months. If you’re unsuccessful, you have to wait six months from your original application before applying again, including at a different base. Choose your base carefully rather than applying to the first one you see.
- Contracts vary by vacancy. EasyJet offers fixed-term, seasonal and permanent contracts, and the type is set out on each vacancy. Check before you apply.
- Hiring follows the summer. Most recruitment happens between late summer and winter, so new crew can complete training before the summer peak.
Worth knowing: EasyJet sometimes opens a register of interest before vacancies are advertised, which lets the airline gauge demand at each base before committing to numbers. Registering isn’t an application, but this year it has given registered candidates first access to talent pool places.
Where Things Stand Right Now
EasyJet’s recruitment for Summer 2027 has run differently from previous years.
In July 2026, EasyJet opened a register of interest for Summer 2027 cabin crew roles across the UK and Europe. Registration has since closed, and EasyJet’s careers page says it is finalising its cabin crew requirements for next summer and reviewing registered candidates in phases, base by base, as it confirms how many crew each one needs.
The first results arrived this week. On October 21, EasyJet started inviting registered candidates to join the talent pool for seasonal Summer 2027 roles at five bases. A day later, the airline confirmed that London Gatwick, its biggest base, will open applications to everyone on Monday, October 26. It is the first EasyJet vacancy this season that anyone can apply for, whether or not they registered interest. Our Gatwick hiring alert has the full details.
For every other base, there is currently no way to apply. EasyJet says future vacancies will be posted on its careers page as they become available.
The bigger picture points towards more hiring. EasyJet has put more than 20 new UK routes on sale for Summer 2027, including new services from Gatwick to Girona, Ajaccio and Cagliari, and every one of them needs crew. The phased approach suggests further bases are likely to open as EasyJet finalises its numbers, although none has been confirmed.

Minimum Requirements
Before you start preparing, make sure you meet EasyJet’s minimum requirements:
Checked against the easyJet careers site.
Remember: There’s also no upper age limit, and EasyJet has been actively encouraging older career changers to apply. Its number of over-50s in the cabin has more than doubled since 2022.
Insight: We estimate new EasyJet cabin crew earn around £22,000 to £25,000 in their first year once flight pay and 10% commission on onboard sales are added to the basic salary. Pay is negotiated with the Unite union, and UK crew are currently partway through an inflation-linked pay deal. Our EasyJet cabin crew salary and benefits guide breaks it down.
How to Apply and Stay Ready
Applications go through the official EasyJet careers site. You apply online for a specific base, then complete three online assessments: verbal reasoning, situational judgement and a workplace behaviour questionnaire. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an Assessment Day, either virtual or in person, with a group exercise and a competency-based interview. Successful candidates then join a talent pool until a training course is available.
Even if your base isn’t hiring right now, don’t wait until it is before preparing. Use the time to make sure you’re application ready:
- Get your CV ready now. It’s screened by an applicant tracking system before a person reads it, so keep it simple. Start with our free cabin crew resume templates.
- Practise the online assessments. Our online assessment practice tests cover all three formats EasyJet uses.
- Learn the Promise Behaviours. EasyJet builds its crew culture around four behaviours: Be Safe, Be Welcoming, Be Bold and Be Challenging. Have a real example ready for each.
- Pick your base carefully. With a six-month wait after a rejection, applying to the wrong base can cost you a whole hiring season.
