Virgin Australia is Now Hiring Cabin Crew For Its Domestic And International Short Haul Networks

Virgin Australia is now accepting expressions of interest for cabin crew to join its domestic and international short haul fleets based in either Sydney or Melbourne.  Interested candidates can apply online via the airline’s official careers website – although you better get a move on as the application window closes on 19th March.

The airline says it’s looking for “vibrant individuals” to deliver a “world-class onboard service”.  You’ll be expected to create a memorable in-flight experience and exceed guest expectations, as well as being able to “focus on the safety and well-being of our guests and fellow crew.”

If you think you’ve got what it takes then there are a few other minimum requirements you need to be aware of before you submit your application.  First of all, you need to be at least 18 years of age and have either Australian or New Zealand citizenship (or have permanent residency).

While there’s no minimum height requirement, You do need to be able to reach a height of at least 180cm and you can’t be any taller than 187cm.  Of course, as airlines work around the clock, you’ll also be expected to work a 24/7/365 roster and be able to get to your chosen base airport within 2-hours.

While spoken and English language skills are an absolute must, Virgin says candidates with Mandarin or Cantonese will be “highly regarded”.  Finally, you’ll need to be in decent physical health and have the strength and skills to swim confidently in water.  Need we mention that excellent grooming is vital?!

In return, Virgin Australia says it can offer “countless industry discounts“, discounted fitness programs and naturally, reduced price flight tickets.  Virgin also says it can offer a competitive salary and plenty of career opportunities.

There are a few things to bear in mind before you submit your application, however.  Importantly, Virgin says “motivation for the role is one of our key assessment criteria” – that means you should only apply for one job, at one location at a time!

If your application looks like a good match, you’ll be invited to an Assessment Day at your chosen base.  And while Virgin can’t say how long the whole process will take, it’s also important to mention that you’ll need an Australian First Aid certificate and a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate before you start a training course.

Finally, there is one last thing you need – a valid passport with at least 18-months validity.  The very best of luck!
