It’s been quite a while since the Dutch flag-carrier KLM hired any new cabin crew but it’s wholly owned regional subsidiary, KLM CityHopper is currently accepting applications all the way through to the end of December. CityHopper was formed in 1991 after two other airlines merged and it operates a fleet of around 50 Embraer single-aisle regional jets – the airline also has a further 35 of the aircraft type on order.
CityHopper operates short-haul services out of Amsterdam Schipol Airport and serves 16 countries throughout Europe. In particular, the CityHopper brand operates quite a few flights to a number of different cities in the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. Other destinations include Vienna, Copenhagen and Dublin.
Unlike many short-haul operators in Europe, KLM Cityhopper still offers complimentary drinks and snacks to all passengers and operates a two-class service with a small Business Class section at the front of the plane. The airline hit the headlines for all the right reasons a couple of years ago when the King of the Netherlands revealed he had been flying undercover as a pilot for the carrier for around 21 years!
Like many European short-haul airlines, KLM CityHopper makes no secret that cabin attendants will be expected to work long duty days. A typical day may involve three flights before spending the night in one of the airline’s European destinations. Depending on schedules, cabin attendants may just have a few short hours to rest or perhaps even a whole to explore and enjoy their layover.
Whatever the case, every day will be different.
Along with being fluent in both Dutch and English, as well as already possessing the right to live and work in Europe, candidates will also need to meet the following minimum requirements:
- At least 18-years old
- Educated to High School level
- At least one and a half years experience in a customer facing role
- Height of between 158cm and 185cm
- Located a maximum of a hours drive from Amsterdam Schipol Airport.
KLM CityHopper says it is looking for flexible, customer orientated individuals for this role. In return, the airline offers an approximate monthly wage of €2,181, along with 34 days of annual leave per year and an additional five trump days. The initial contract is set at five years.
Interested candidates must apply for this position via the official KLM recruitment website here. Applications close on 30th December 2019.
