Delta Air Lines has officially opened applications for its next flight attendant hiring cycle, with opportunities available for both English-speaking and bilingual candidates.
The announcement follows days of speculation within the aviation community after candidates noticed unusual activity within Delta’s recruitment system, while current flight attendants and airline insiders hinted that hiring was about to begin.
Now, the wait is over.
In a newly released hiring announcement, Delta confirmed that applications are being accepted for upcoming 2027 training classes.

Delta Is Hiring Flight Attendants Again
Delta says it is seeking candidates who are passionate about customer service, teamwork, and creating memorable experiences for passengers.
“As we continue to strengthen our flight attendant team, we’re looking for individuals who are inspired by service, teamwork and connection,” explained Rachel McCarthy, Vice President of In-Flight Service Operations, Customer Experience, Hiring and Learning.
“If you’re driven to create exceptional journeys and memories for our customers, we’d love to welcome you aboard.”
The recruitment campaign is open to both external applicants and current Delta employees.
Applications Are Open Right Now
Candidates can now submit applications through Delta’s careers website.
However, Delta is already warning applicants that exceptionally high demand may cause delays within the recruitment portal.
In an editor’s note accompanying the announcement, the airline advised:
“Due to the high volume of applications we receive during this posting period, you may experience slower response times or delays in the application portal.”
That warning alone offers a reminder of just how competitive Delta flight attendant recruitment has become. Every hiring cycle attracts tens of thousands of applications for a relatively limited number of positions.
For anyone considering applying, waiting several days could mean joining an even larger applicant pool.
Who Can Apply?
Delta is recruiting for two categories of flight attendant:
- English-Speaking Flight Attendants: These are Delta’s standard cabin crew positions and require fluency in English.
- Language of Destination (LOD) Flight Attendants: Delta is also accepting applications from bilingual candidates for its Language of Destination program. LOD flight attendants help support international routes and provide language assistance to customers when needed.
Worth Knowing: Candidates applying for these positions must demonstrate fluency in both English and their additional language.
Minimum Requirements
According to Delta, applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years old at the time of application
- Hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification
- Be legally authorised to work in the United States
- Speak, read and write English fluently
- Be willing to work domestic and international flights
- Be available for overnight trips, weekends, holidays and irregular schedules
- Be able to support Delta’s network of more than 300 destinations worldwide
As with previous recruitment campaigns, Delta does not sponsor work visas for flight attendant applicants.
Important Reapplication Change
One detail buried within Delta’s announcement will be welcome news for many aspiring flight attendants.
As of June 2026, candidates who were unsuccessful during a previous Delta flight attendant hiring cycle can reapply after six months from their disqualification date, provided a new requisition number has been posted.
The change gives many former applicants an earlier opportunity to return to the process and aligns flight attendant recruitment with policies used elsewhere within the airline.
What Happens Next?
Delta’s flight attendant recruitment process is typically made up of several stages:
- Online application
- FitMe assessment
- HireVue Virtual Job Tryout
- Video interview
- Event Day in Atlanta
- Conditional job offer
- Training
Successful candidates selected through this hiring cycle will attend training classes beginning in 2027.
For many applicants, that extended timeline provides additional flexibility, particularly for those currently studying, working through notice periods, or managing other commitments before making a career change.
Our Advice: Apply Early, Not Late
If becoming a Delta flight attendant is your goal, there is little benefit in waiting.
Historically, Delta vacancies attract enormous attention across the aviation industry, and the airline is already cautioning candidates that application volumes are high enough to potentially slow parts of the recruitment system.
Before submitting your application:
- Ensure your resume is ATS-friendly
- Double-check your employment history dates
- Confirm your passport status
- Review Delta’s flight attendant requirements carefully
- Prepare for the online assessment stages
Applications are now open, but competition is already intense. Delta is warning candidates to expect delays because of high demand, which suggests applications are arriving fast. Whether you’re applying for the first time or returning under the new six-month reapplication policy, preparation matters. Take the time to get your resume ready, understand the assessment process, and submit the strongest application possible.
