Aer Lingus is pushing ahead with plans to open a new transatlantic base in Manchester, England and has now started to hire cabin crew to operate flights to and from three destinations in the United States.
The airline is currently planning to fly to Boston, New York and Orlando using two single-aisle Airbus A321XLR aircraft and two wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft with flights expected to start this summer.
The US Department of Transportation granted conditional approval to Aer Lingus earlier this month and separate approvals, including an air operators certificate from the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority should follow soon.
Aer Lingus will be hoping to muscle in on the transatlantic leisure market from Manchester that is currently only served by Virgin Atlantic following the collapse of Thomas Cook.
Under current plans filed with the DOT, Aer Lingus intends to fly daily to New York JFK, daily to Orlando in the summer and four times per week during the winter season, and operate a summer-seasonal route to Boston.
The airline is now accepting applications for cabin crew to join its new Manchester base with applications set to close on April 2. Applicants must have previous cabin crew experience in order to be considered for this role.
