New Year, New Job? Lufthansa is going on a hiring spree in 2019, with plans to hire at least 5,000 new employees, including 1,300 flight attendants across the European aviation giant’s group of airlines. The majority of positions will be available at Lufthansa’s mainline Munich base, as well as at SWISS airlines in Zurich.
Further flight attendant opportunities currently exist at Eurowings and positions are expected to open up at both Austrian and Brussels Airlines in the coming months. More details and the opportunity to submit an application can be found on the official ‘Be Lufthansa‘ recruitment website. Over 170,000 applications were submitted via the site in 2018 alone.
“As an international employer with employees hailing from 147 different countries, Lufthansa Group emphasizes diversity,” explains Bettina Volkens, the Lufthansa Group’s Chief Officer for Corporate Human Resources.
“Equal opportunities for men and women at every level, that is what I stand for and that is what I stand up for,” Volkens says. “We offer a highly professional environment, attractive employment conditions and are standard-setting in professional training. Moving forward, we plan to bring even more young employees into the company than before as well as promote our talents through a wide range of programs.”
As well as the opportunity to submit an online application, Lufthansa is one of the few European airlines to still offer Open Day’s where eligible candidates can simply turn up on the day – and maybe even leave with a job offer in hand.
Referred to as flight attendant “casting” events, the next Lufthansa open day will be taking place on 26th January 2019, at the Novotel Hotel, Munich Airport from 10am to 5pm. Interested candidates can also find out more during special live chat events – the next of which will be held on 24th January. More details on both events can be found here.
