On this site we very often focus on the state of Cabin Crew recruitment at some of the biggest airlines in the Middle East – notably Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways. The reason is simple – these three airlines offer unrivalled opportunities to people of many different nationalities around the world. But occasionally, we just need to highlight some of the other amazing job openings for cabin crew that are out there.
One such airline that is definitely worth a mention at the moment is Vistara – a domestic Indian airline which was formed as a joint venture between the huge Indian conglomerate, Tata and Singapore Airways. This is an airline which has big ambitions and is growing rapidly.
Vistara has only been flying since 2003 and operates a fleet of 21 brand new Airbus A320 aircraft. But its current fleet is set to be dwarfed by the plan to add 50 more A320’s in the coming years. And earlier this month, Vistara said it had secured a deal with Boeing to take delivery of six Boeing 787 aircraft – part of the airline’s plan to transition from a purely domestic airline into an international carrier.
Marketed as a full-service airline, Vistara now serves 22 destinations throughout India, becoming the highest-rated Indian airline on Tripadvisor. The airline even has a chef onboard some of its routes and offers Starbucks brewed coffee as part of its in-flight menu.
In March, Vistara made headlines around the world when it announced it would start recruiting male cabin crew for the first time since the airline was founded. At the time, the airline said it had always planned to hire male cabin crew but it was waiting until it reached a certain size before it embraced equal opportunities.
As it stands, Vistara is actively recruiting cabin crew – both new hires who haven’t previously flown and experienced crew. The airline has conducted a number of Open Day’s throughout India and even more are expected to be announced soon.
Two Open Day’s are to be held in Gurgaon on the 20th and 27th July at the Anya Hotel. Candidates will be expected to arrive between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
If this sounds like an opportunity you can’t miss out and you’re an Indian national, then you’ll also need to be aware of the following minimum criteria:
- Female candidates must have a minimum height of 155cm and have an arm reach of 212cm. Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18 – 22.
- Male candidates must be at least 170cm tall. Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18 – 25.
- Minimum education attainment of 10+ 2 (Class 12th).
- Fluent in English and Hindi.
- No visible tattoos when in uniform.
For freshers, without previous flying experienced, you must be aged between 18 – 32 years old. Experienced crew with at least 12-months of flying under their belt must be aged between 20-34 years old.
