SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines will be holding a Cabin Crew recruitment event on the 8th January at Changi Airport in Singapore – and the best bit is that recruitment is open to all nationalities as long as you meet the airline’s minimum requirements.
Established in 1989, Silk Air was originally known as Tradewinds and started life as the charter and holiday wing of Singapore Airlines. The airline was rebranded as SilkAir in 1992 and has grown to become a regional carrier, operating Singapore’s narrowbody fleet of aircraft.
The airline now flies to over 45 destinations across more than 12 countries including Phuket, Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur. SilkAir previously operated a mainly Airbus fleet of A319’s and A320’s but has also started to take delivery of brand new Boeing 737MAX aircraft.
The recruitment event will start at 9 am on the 8th January at SilkAir’s Cabin Crew office at Changi Airport. Candidates who are selected during the Open Day will go onto a Final Interview which will be held the same day, from 4 pm.
In an emailed statement, a spokesperson for SilkAir said the airline recruits “both female and male cabin crew” who are “dedicated to providing gracious and attentive service to ensure an exceptional onboard experience for our customers.”
Minimum Requirements
And the best news is that recruitment is open to all nationalities “as long as requirements are met.” So what are those requirements:
- Minimum education: At least 3 GCE ‘O’ Level or 4 GCE ‘N’ Level credits, including English
- Physical requirements: Females to be at least 1.58m / males at least 1.65m tall
- National Service: Completed or exempted from National Service (by February 2018)
If you’re interested in attending the Open Day, you’ll be expected to download and complete the application form before attending the even. This can be downloaded from the official SilkAir recruitment site.
You’ll also need two passport-sized photos (in full business attire), original education certificates, identity card or passport and National Service certificate for Singapore nationals.
The full address for the Open Day is: Changi Airport Terminal 2, SilkAir Cabin Crew Office, #037-042, Singapore 918643
SilkAir says it offers a “generous” range of benefits including free and discounted travel, profit sharing bonus, medical and dental benefits and allowances. If you think you can provide “excellent and attentive service” then this could be the opportunity for you.
Through its ‘A Joy to Fly’ campaign launched in 2014, SilkAir says it is committed to every single detail of a customers journey.
