Wizz Air, the Hungarian-based low-cost airline is embarking on its biggest cabin crew recruitment drive ever, with plans to recruit up to 1,300 flight attendants. The new positions will be added over the next 12-months with a host of Open Days scheduled across Europe throughout October and onwards.
The news comes as Wizz Air plans a massive expansion – the airline has already taken delivery of 11 brand new aircraft in 2017 and a further 21 new Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft will join the fleet next year. And that’s not all – by 2024, Wizz Air hopes to have doubled its fleet to 160 aircraft.
Already the largest airline in Central and Eastern Europe, Wizz Air will be holding a massive 400 Open Day’s from now until the end of next year. Recruitment for cabin crew and flight crew roles will be held in 25 countries and successful candidates will have the opportunity to work at a base near to where they already live.
The Wizz Air story took off in 2003 with the promise “to make flying affordable for the citizens of Central and Eastern Europe”. Today, the airline operates 500 routes from 27 bases in the region. And now, Wizz Air is now looking to bring its own style of low-cost air travel to an even wider audience across Europe.
Cabin Crew are able to choose a base that is most convenient to them and benefit from an attractive salary package. Of course, concessionary staff travel is available and unlike rivals like Ryanair, flight attendants don’t have to pay for the training or their own uniforms.
What does it take to become Wizz Air cabin crew?
If you’re “cheerful, energetic and positive”, then you might have what it takes to become a member of Wizz Air cabin crew. Here are some of the other minimum requirements for the role:
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to reach at least 210cm (standing on tiptoes) and at least 1.65 metres tall for female candidates and 1.75 metres tall for male candidates
- Educated to at least High School level
- You must be able to speak and write English fluently as well as one of the following languages: Romanian, Bulgarian, Polish, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Slovak, Czech, Macedonian, Serbian, Ukrainian, Georgian, or Bosnian
- Able to swim
- No tattoos or body piercings that are visible when wearing the company uniform
You’ll also be expected to live within a 60 minute commute of your chosen base and have the means to get to the base at any time of day. Previous customer service experience is an advantage although it’s not abolustely essential.
How to apply
You don’t need to submit an application online for all the recruitment events but instead, attend one of the many Open Day’s the airline is organising. A full list and details can be found on the official Wizz Air recruitment website here.
You’ll need a fully updated CV/resume written in English and two photo’s – One should be a passport style photo and the other a full body photo. The photo’s should be in full business attire with immaculate grooming and taken against a white backdrop. If possible, you should also take a reference with you.
