Qantas is Hiring UK-Based Cabin Crew – But Hurry, Applications Close Sunday 07th May

Just a few weeks ago, Qantas reopened Cabin Crew recruitment for both its Sydney and Melbourne bases.  The new Flight Attendants will get to work on some of the longest flights in the airline’s network including Los Angeles, Dubai, Dallas and Johannesburg.  But of course, you had to be an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status to apply – which left a lot of people out.

Now there’s a chance for British and European citizens to work for Qantas – But you’ll need to be quick.  Qantas is hiring International Cabin Crew based at London Heathrow airport and the application deadline is Sunday 07th May 2017.

Qantas is looking for candidates who are “passionate service professionals” that “demonstrate genuine care for our customers.”  You’ll be based in London and work mostly on the Heathrow to Dubai route.  However, you’ll also be expected to work on other flights, though Qantas doesn’t specify what destinations this might include (flights from Dubai continue onwards to Melbourne and Sydney).

Could Include the World’s Longest Flight

Remember also, Qantas is set to introduce the world’s longest flight in March 2018 with the launch of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service from London to Perth in Western Australia.  The ultra-long flight will be an epic 17-hour non-stop service between the two continents.

Qantas is expected to withdraw one of its daily A380 super-jumbo services to the British capital to make way for the Dreamliner.  We’ve reached out to Qantas, to find out whether new hires will be working the new route.

Minimum Requirements

As you might expect, you’ll be expected to work a monthly roster that includes unsocial hours, early mornings, late nights, long shifts and extended periods away from home.  Okay, so here are the minimum requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age,
  • Between 163cm and 183cm in height (5.34 feet – 6.00 feet),
  • UK Citizen or Permanent Residency for the United Kingdom (includes EU nationals),
  • Unrestricted access to all Qantas destinations and at last 12 months left on your passport.

You’ll also need to prove that you’ve had extensive customer experience with an appreciation and understanding of different cultures.  Finally, Qantas are looking for candidates with heaps of empathy, a positive attitude and an adaptable, resilient mindset.  And you’ll do all of this whilst being friendly and easy going.
